“Ecce Hommo and Cecilia” in Japan

The documentary “Ecce Homo y Cecilia”, produced by Factoría Plural has been purchased by Nippon TV, Japan’s main national television channel and most watched channel in 2011. The Japanese audience will watch the documentary that focuses on a phenomenon that put the Aragonese town of Borja on the spotlight in 2012 when Cecilia, a woman from this town, did a peculiar restoration of the image of Ecce Homo. This 80-year-old woman and her restoration went viral on the international press and the main television channels and on the internet.

“Ecce Homo y Cecilia” poses the following question, how is it possible that the life of an 80-year-old woman who lives in a small and quiet village of Aragón is in the news in 160 countries around the world? The answer to this question is a 60 minute documentary that delves into the seven days that changed the life of the village of Borja. The documentary focuses on three elements. First, the neighbours who will tell us what happened in the village on the summer of 2012; second, the protagonists, Cecilia, her sister and her brother-in-law, the priest, the devotee, the city councillor…and finally, a series of diverse witnesses, experts, journalists and even some comedians.
